Left Ventricular Assist Device

The HeartMate XVE is the first generation heart assist device. The electrical left ventricular assist device sits under the muscles of the abdomen. The LVAD is attached to the existing heart but operates independently from the heart. It has an electrical cord that comes out of the controller and is battery driven. The HeartMate XVE can be used for either Bridge-to-Transplantation or Destination Therapy.
