Root, Root, Root for the Home Team

While October is the month baseball fans celebrate the World Series, Oklahoma gardeners are busy with another kind of celebration: harvesting root vegetables. Shouts of joy can be heard with each beet, carrot and turnip being pulled from the ground. Why such jubilee? Because root vegetables are Nature’s way of providing much needed nutrition long after the summer crops are gone.

Pam Patty, RD, LD, will lead a lively discussion and demonstration showcasing these powerhouse veggies. Whether you roast, mash or leave them raw, root vegetables taste great and give your body outstanding nutrition. Now, that’s something to cheer about!
