Sixth Annual African American Men's Health Summit

Join INTEGRIS Men's Health University and the East Zion District Men's Association for the sixth annual African American Men's Health Summit from 9 a.m. to noon at Metro Technology Center Springlake Campus Business Conference Center, 1900 Springlake Drive, Oklahoma City. Free men's health screenings will be held from 9 a.m. to noon including cancer screenings for *prostate PSA, *skin, *oral and colorectal (*by appointment only) and glucose, cholesterol, stroke, blood pressure and lung function exams. Other activities include health and wellness information and resources, giveaways and door prizes. Join us for refreshments after the screenings. Metro Technology Center will kick-off the events with three sessions of Metabolic Fitness, Functional Exercise instructed by Bilal Konte, including cardio calisthenics, core stability training, resistance training and a cool down. Healthy Brain, Healthy Mind

INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center invites you to this interactive four-week series taught by a representative of the Oklahoma Healthy Aging Initiative. The workshop is designed to help individuals understand the many different paths to maintaining a healthy brain.

Participants will learn more than a dozen ways to improve physical and mental health and leave this workshop equipped with the information needed to take action toward a healthier mind.

The classes will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline, Suite100.

SurvivorFit: An exercise program for cancer survivors

Join INTEGRIS PACER Fitness Center and the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute for this eight-week exercise program. The program is dedicated to helping cancer survivors take charge of their recovery and improve their overall health and quality of life. Your physician’s release to exercise is required.

Classes will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 2 through July 23, in Studio 1 at INTEGRIS PACER Fitness Center, 5520 N. Independence Ave. Cost: No charge for this program.

Living Well

Living Well is a free program  designed to improve  your overall health. This seven-week course meets once a week to focus on how to fuel your body, the basics of physical activity and how to reduce your stress. Course sessions are related to the top three health issues that most communities in Oklahoma face: heart disease, mental health and obesity. This program breaks the issues down into nutrition, physical activity and stress relief. Screenings such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and body mass index are done at the beginning and at the end. Course objections include learning ways to deal with stress, how to fuel your body and the basics of increasing your physical activity level. Classes will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays through July 15 in Conference Rooms A and B at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital, Yukon.

Hearing Helpers Demonstration

Are you or someone you love living with hearing loss? Learn about assistive listening devices available to help compensate for hearing loss. Representatives of the Faye Donalson Hearing Helpers Room will demonstrate some of these devices at the following locations.
Come and go anytime during the stated hours to view the devices and learn about other resources for persons who have hearing impairments.

Summer … Sizzle … Salsa!

Okay, guys … this one is for YOU! It’s June, so you’ll be celebrating Father’s Day, Summer Solstice and Men’s Health all month long! Can a fired up grill be far behind? Since most men are “seasoned” grill masters of primal cuts of meat, we will focus the nutrition spotlight on summer’s bounty from the garden.

Pam Patty, RD, LD, will demonstrate how to make Watermelon Salsa and Zucchini Spirals as a way to cool down those sizzling summer meals hot off the grill. Complimentary samples will be provided.

Free Diabetes Education Classes
Wellness Strategies / Activity and Positive Lifestyle Behaviors / Smoking Cessation / Sleep Habits / Social Relationships

INTEGRIS offers a five-month educational program to support those with diabetes. Conducted by registered dietitian Pam Patty, monthly sessions focus on a variety of topics to help patients manage the disease and make positive lifestyle choices.

The last class of this session will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on June 8, in the Memorial Classroom at INTEGRIS Health Edmond , 4801 INTEGRIS Parkway, Edmond, OK 73034.

Surgical Weight Loss Seminar

Since 2006, the INTEGRIS Weight Loss Center has performed hundreds of primary surgical weight loss procedures, exceeding the national average in all weight loss categories. The center is designated as an accredited center of excellence facility by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.

Join Hamilton S. Le, M.D., medical director of the INTEGRIS Weight Loss Center, for a free informational seminar. All surgical weight loss procedures are carefully reviewed and explained and attendees are given the opportunity to have questions asked and answered.

Better Breathers Club: Lung Disorders Support Group

Are you ready to breathe easier? If you have been diagnosed with a lung disorder such as COPD, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or cystic fibrosis, you could benefit from the Better Breathers Club at INTEGRIS Health Edmond.

Better Breathers offers you the opportunity to learn to cope with lung disorders and their symptoms while receiving the support of others who share in your struggles. Each session features educational presentations on a wide range of topics.

Solving the Problems of Erectile Dysfunction and Male Incontinence

Understanding Aromatherapy

The art of aromatherapy is an application of essential oils to help in promoting healing, a feeling of well-being, and relaxation. Essential oils from plants have long had an important role in helping to transcend the trivial and connect with something larger than themselves. The stimulation of the olfactory receptors and activity of the limbus system creates a complimentary therapy to focus on the whole person and encourage the body’s natural ability to balance and maintain.

The Healthy Heart Walkers’ Club is designed to provide our community with a structured walking and health education program. An outdoor walking track at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital, provide a safe, convenient and comfortable walking environment. Health care professionals are nearby should you ever need their assistance. Monthly meetings features various speakers presenting information on topics about health and wellness or other topics of interest to seniors are held at 7:30 a.m. in Conference Room A/B at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital, 1201 Health Center Parkway, Yukon. Free breakfast included.
