Eat Well, Move More, Be Well

Eat Well, Move More, Be Well is aimed at helping older adults choose wholesome foods and adopt a more active lifestyle. Taking steps to achieve a healthier body weight is important, but those older than age 70 should strive to make changes gradually.

Designed for the older adult, Eat Well, Move More, Be Well is a four-session program taught by a registered dietitian and an exercise physiologist. Nutrition recommendations focus on choosing a calorie-balanced diet with particular emphasis on a heart-healthy eating pattern. Exercise tips also focus on increasing physical activity in an age-appropriate fashion including recommendations for reducing the risk of falling, strength-conditioning and enhancing balance and coordination skills.

Join us on Fridays, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline, Suite 100.

Reservations are required for all events unless otherwise noted. All events are held in Oklahoma City unless otherwise noted. For more information on any of the events or to make reservations, please visit us online at integrisok.com or call the INTEGRIS HealthLine at 405-951-2277 or 888-951-2277.

Whether you’re training for your first marathon, getting ready for your next game, reaching a personal fitness goal, or just trying to get through the day, you already know that nothing slows you down faster than pain and injury.

Kinesiology tape is lightweight, comfortable to wear, and can be used for hundreds of common injuries such as lower back pain, knee pain, shin splints, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, just to name a few. Kinesiology tape not only looks good (and colorful!), but it also provides 24 hour relief per application for days at a time through sweat, strain and humidity, and can even be worn in water thanks to our specially designed adhesive.

Integrative Medicine 101

What is Integrative Medicine? Join the INTEGRIS James L. Hall Jr. Center for Mind, Body and Spirit in welcoming Juli Johnson, APRN, as she explains the principles of Integrative Medicine, a combination of conventional Western medicine with complementary treatments such as acupuncture, massage, yoga and stress reduction techniques. Integrative medicine is evidence based practice that focuses on the body’s innate healing response. It is a philosophy of a whole-person approach designed to treat the person, not just the disease, creating a partnership between patient and practitioner.

Integrative Medicine is heavily focused on lifestyle modification and preventive measures to promote wellness for the mind, body and spirit. There is a heavy emphasis on diet, exercise and mindfulness for health promotion that is individualized for each person.

Don’t miss this informative presentation. Begin taking an active role in your own health care. The presentation will be held at 6 p.m. in Conference Rooms J, K and L of the Raymond A. Young Conference Center at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center.
