An Upcoming Health Essentials Special Event!

Sunday, June 2
26th Annual Cancer Survivors Day Celebration of Life
Join us for the 26th annual Cancer Survivors Day luncheon to recognize our ever-growing family of cancer survivors and their caregivers. This year, we will welcome internationally renowned artist Richard Hight with The Masterpiece in You, a performance that combines art, music and the spoken word toward personal growth and fulfillment. While your circumstances may determine the colors you have to work with, the choices you make day-to-day are, in fact, the brushstrokes that will define what your masterpiece looks like.

Hight is a masterful artist renowned for using warmth and humor, and artfully drawing from his own canvas to present a palette of timeless lessons and entertaining stories. Additionally, R. Murali Krishna, M.D., will share excerpts, anecdotes and strategies for overcoming life’s challenges from his book, VIBRANT: To Heal and Be Whole, From India to Oklahoma City. Pre-purchase your copy of VIBRANT when you call to register and we will have a signed copy for you to pick up at the event.  (Cost of book is $25) Proceeds benefit the Dr. R. Murali Krishna Family Eliminate the Stigma of Mental Illness Award through the INTEGRIS Foundation.

The presentation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, 1700 NE 63rd Street, Oklahoma City. Complimentary lunch, survivor recognition and butterfly release are included. Admission is free, but reservations are required. RSVP by May 17, for special survivor recognition.

Important questions like these need to be explored and examined practically. Caffeinated
Historically, caffeine was primarily consumed via coffee or tea and, later, colas. How things have changed! The market for caffeinated beverages is literally buzzing! (Pun intended.) By 2012, the term “energy drink” was so commonly used it was added to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. While beverages still lead the list, many non-beverage items are being caffeinated, too. Did you know you can chew on caffeinated gum? Eat caffeinated candy? Snack on caffeinated cracker jacks or potato chips?

Join Karen Massey, RD, LD, for an “amped-up” discussion about caffeine, 10 to 11 a.m. at INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline Ave., Ste. 100.
