Dear Colleague,

In the past month I have attended multiple presentations from leading healthcare organizations about the future of our industry. Most of these were directed at teaching the audience how to prepare for the uncertain future. The forward thinkers are plotting a strategy to prepare for the decline of the fee-for-service world. As much as I hate to admit it, fee-for-service is dying. That is what we know and what our delivery system is set up for. Population management and payment for value is the future. INTEGRIS Health Partners is the central player in the INTEGRIS Health response to the coming change. The physicians and the system will have to cooperate, collaborate and share in successes to survive the coming transformational changes.

The INTEGRIS Health commitment to IHP is very strong. We must be committed to do our part in the process. For years we have clamored for a seat at the table and a greater voice in the way the system works. The time is now to step up and take the lead. We are being given the opportunity and must seize it.

We are in the final stages of putting out initiatives for correct coding and documentation in the hospital. It will be important to participate. You will be financially incentivized by IHP to do so. No one likes change or the perception that someone is telling us what to do. I assure you that the issues to be addressed in this process are not punitive, trivial or stupid. A single sentence in a note or a fifth digit in a code can mean a $20,000 difference in payment to the hospital. When bundled payment models take hold this will be key to how the providers are paid as well. We can also track how much more efficient IHP physicians are in this process after they are educated and trained correctly and share in the extra income.

This is a single example of how to prepare for the future. There are many, many more. Our patients are counting on us to secure the future of the healthcare system. Ultimately we must be cooperative, opened-minded and part of the solution to be advocates for our patients. Fee-for-service is in decline. Value-based purchasing is coming. Change and uncertainty are here to stay. We have an opportunity to stabilize the environment through the physician-led work of IHP if we choose to do so.

Sincerely,

Carl Raczkowski, M.D.
President, INTEGRIS Health Partners

IHP Recognizes Excellence in Practice:
H. Diana O’Connor DO

INTEGRIS Health Partners is proud to recognize Dr. Diana O’Connor and staff for helping their patients live longer, healthier lives. Dr. O’Connor implemented the tobacco cessation treatment process provided to her by INTEGRIS Health Tobacco Treatment Program consultants. Her referrals alone to the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline constitute 50% of all the IHP provider referrals. She also boasts a healthy 60% services acceptance rate through the helpline. Congratulations, Dr. O’Connor and staff, for your achievements, and thank you for proving excellent clinical care in our community.

November 21 is the Great American Smoke Out. On that date, several metro clinics will offer informational booths to help patients and visitors make a quit attempt - Quit for A Day, Quit for Life.  For more information on tobacco treatment programs contact Kim Olson, Tobacco Treatment Coordinator at kimbra.olson@integrisok.com or 405-951-2921.

Colon Cancer Screening and Diabetes Letters

The IHP Care Coordination Team will soon be mailing letters to physicians along with a listing of their patients who have NOT met the current quality guidelines for colon cancer screenings and diabetes.  For those that responded to the previous letters regarding asthma and pneumonia, a big THANK YOU!  As you know, MedVentive is claims driven and cannot pull data from an EMR. Also, procedures that were done prior to the creation of IHP may not be in MedVentive unless they have been manually entered by you or your staff. To “raise” our numbers to the desired targets, it takes the “IHP Village” participating in this endeavor.

Information can be entered by your office or the completed lists can be faxed to Care Coordination at 405-552-0839. You can also send an email with the information to ann.white@integrisok.com , or contact your Provider Relations Consultant, Matt Henderson at 405-593-9850 or Deidre Horn at 405-550-3499 to pick up the data. For questions or additional information, please call Care Coordination at 405-951-2504.

Supply Savings Opportunity

IHP has partnered with VHA/Provista to create an opportunity for our providers to access the most competitive and extensive portfolio of products and services available to reduce supply costs, streamline procurement processes and maximize value. Together with Novation, Provista’s supply contracting company, this program can leverage more than $40 billion in annual purchasing power to command the best prices on top-name products and services. In order to provide the best information to all IHP providers, Provista is asking that you take part in a brief survey to help them better understand your practice needs.

This survey should take no more than 5 minutes. This survey will be open until Monday, Dec. 2, 2013.

Instructions: To access the survey, click on the following link OR copy and paste the complete URL into your browser if you have difficulties with the link - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/96CX9ZR

As a token of appreciation for your time spent completing the survey you will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $100 gift cards. Thank you in advance for your participation!
