Stress Echocardiogram

This exam utilizes 2D Echocardiogram equipment to obtain pictures of the heart before and immediately after it has endured a period of stress, either produced by medications or by exercise.

Images of the heart are examined during periods of stress and compared to the resting echocardiogram. Hidden coronary disease may be detected by looking for motion changes of the cardiac muscle after vigorous exercise, indicating a possible blockage of an artery.
