Heart Education

Heart, or cardiovascular, disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. Every minute, someone dies from a heart attach or other coronary attack. The numbers are staggering. More than 11 million Americans have some type of cardiovascular disease. Nearly 5 million have congestive heart failure, 7 million have had a heart attack, and more than 6 million have experienced angina (chest pain). Of those with heart disease, 52.2 percent are male and 47.8 percent are female and more than 2 of every 5 Americans die of heart disease.

Cardiovascular disease includes a number of conditions affection the structures or function of the heart. They can include:
