Stroke Recovery
Rehabilitation is an important part of the recovery process for stroke patients. Collaboration between our referral source and our rehabilitation professionals serves to promote the recovery of the patient by integrating the rehabilitation process early in the treatment program.
Early intervention by rehabilitation professionals stimulates recovery in physical, cognitive, and speech deficits that result from the stroke and helps patients regain their maximum abilities in those areas.
A patient who has suffered a stroke can be admitted to INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation from another hospital, rehabilitation program or from home by a patient, physician or family referral. Our interdisciplinary team includes members from the following disciplines:
- Physical medicine physicians
- Rehabilitation nursing
- Speech/language pathology
- Physical therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Nurse case management
- Social work
- Psychological services
- Recreational therapy
CARF Accreditation
The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, known as CARF, is the accrediting body for inpatient rehabilitation programs. INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation pursued accreditation for general inpatient rehabilitation as well as, for the first time, a disease specific accreditation for stroke specialty programs. CARF awarded Jim Thorpe a three-year accreditation in both categories.
This type of accreditation is granted only to organizations that show substantial fulfillment of the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated that its programs and services are of the highest quality.
