Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group
IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) is a progressive interstitial lung disease causing permanent scarring (fibrosis) of the lung tissue. Idiopathic means there is no known cause. Disease management can include supportive care, oxygen, medications and lung transplantation. Join our monthly support group meetings held the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Conference Rooms J, K and L at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, 3300 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. September is Pulmonary Fibrosis awareness month; wear your favorite blue and “BlueUp4PF”.
If you are on oxygen, please bring enough to last, as there are no oxygen outlets available in the conference rooms. Electrical outlets are available if you use a portable concentrator.

Surgical Weight Loss Seminar
Since 2006, the INTEGRIS Weight Loss Center has performed hundreds of primary surgical weight loss procedures, exceeding the national average in all weight loss categories. The center is designated as an accredited center of excellence facility by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program.
Join Hamilton S. Le, M.D., medical director of the INTEGRIS Weight Loss Center, for a free informational seminar to learn more about the variety of surgical weight loss procedures available depending on your needs including the new ReShape procedure. ReShape is the first-of-its-kind non-surgical weight loss procedure that uses advanced integrated dual balloon technology to help people with mild to moderate obesity lose weight.
The free presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the James L. Henry Auditorium at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, 3300 NW Expressway. Registration is required.

Changing Your Weighs
Changing Your Weighs is an eight week comprehensive program that focuses on weight loss as a reflection of making life-style changes that foster better health. The emphasis is on healthy food choices and activity. The program is taught by a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. The class will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Yukon High School Library, 1777 S. Yukon Pkwy. There is no charge for the class. Registration is required.

Hearing Screenings with Perrine Pham, Au.D.
According to the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders, it is estimated that one in eight Americans has hearing loss in both ears. The rate increases to one in three by the age of 65. Come meet Dr. Perrine Pham, from the Hough Ear Institute, for a free hearing screening.
Screenings will be held from Noon to 3 p.m. at the INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline Ave., Suite 100. Very limited openings. Registration is required. You must call early to register and receive a screening appointment time. Each person will need their own appointment time.

Better Breathers Club: Lung Disorders Support Group
Are you ready to breathe easier? If you have been diagnosed with a lung disorder such as COPD, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or cystic fibrosis, you could benefit from the Better Breathers Club at INTEGRIS Health Edmond.
Better Breathers offers you the opportunity to learn to cope with lung disorders and their symptoms while receiving the support of others who share in your struggles. Each session features educational presentations on a wide range of topics.

Rapid Readers Book Discussion
You are cordially invited to join the Rapid Readers book discussion of Never Feel Old Again, by Raymond Francis. Monthly Blood Pressure Checks
Something NEW! The third Friday of every month we offer blood pressure checks at the INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 Brookline Ave., Suite 100. It’s important to know your numbers and starting with a regular BP check is No. 1! Come and go between 1 and 3 p.m. This monthly service is free of charge and open to the public. No registration required.

Spanish Classes – Fall/Winter 2017
Join our instructor, Tim Rice, to learn Spanish. Whether it’s for the first time, or to refresh your memory, or even just to hone your skills, this class will keep your mind sharp by discovering that you can learn a new language at any age! Who knows? A trip to Mexico may be on your bucket list!
Classes will be held at the INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline Ave., Suite 100.
Students will need to purchase the textbook, Barron’s Learn Spanish the Fast and Fun Way, by Gene Hammitt, available through Barnes and Noble or Amazon.

Esperanto – Quick Course Spanish
Discover the joy of learning the Spanish language! In less than a month you will be able to converse in a language spoken around the world. If grammar scares you, don’t worry! Healthy Heart Walkers Club
Putting Heart and Sole into Good Health! This club is designed to provide our community with a structured walking and health education program. The program consists of monthly meetings and featured activities including monthly blood pressure checks.
Please join us for a light continental breakfast and a short health and fitness education program from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the basement of the Medical Office Building at INTEGRIS Southwest, 4200 S. Douglas, Suite B-10. Registration is required.

School is back in session and families are juggling schedules! Many families rely on grandparents to watch the kiddos after school. If this is true for you, your role as a part-time caregiver has a big impact on how children view health habits.

Caregiver Support Group
Psychology Supporting Positive Outcomes
INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation
This support group is offered only for caregivers of patients with any chronic medical condition. Caregivers will be able to connect with others, express their feelings, and gain insights from those going through similar challenges.
Contact respite care, private duty caregivers or a trusted friend/family member to provide care for your loved one so that you may join us.
Classes are facilitated by Allie Weaver, CRC, and Mary Ryan, M.S.W., and are held the third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. in the Jones Education Room, INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation, 4219 S. Western Ave. Registration is required.

Do you have nutrition questions you wonder about, but don’t know who to ask? If so, please stop by the INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center from noon to 2 p.m. at 5100 N. Brookline Ave., Suite 100. No reservations are necessary; just come and go during the stated hours. The focus is on general nutrition and is not intended to address therapeutic diets or replace medical nutrition therapy.
