INTEGRIS Health's Weight Loss Center at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center was initiated in July of 2006. Dr. Russell Gornichec, the medical director, has been performing surgical weight loss procedures in the Oklahoma City area since 2003. The INTEGRIS Weight Loss Center incorporates both surgical means and medically supervised weight loss. In close cooperation with PACER Fitness Center, a non-surgical approach to morbid obesity has been created. This program involves a medically supervised pathway that includes nutritional counseling, psychological evaluation, behavior modification, and a supervised individualized exercise program.
For those patients who qualify and have failed a medically supervised program, surgical weight loss procedures can be considered. This surgical program offers revisional surgery, gastric bypass, adjustable gastric band procedures, and vertical sleeve gastrectomy. Patients undergo preoperative testing, evaluation and utilization of a locally based support group to assess whether this surgical intervention is the right choice for them.
