The MDA/ALS Center at INTEGRIS Health (Neuromuscular Center at Southwest Medical Center) sponsors an ALS support group for individuals with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) as well as their caregivers. The Center is a joint effort between INTEGRIS Health and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The support group is facilitated by a rehabilitation psychologist and addresses the emotional and social concerns of the individuals and their caregivers as they contend with ALS. Speakers are also brought in several times a year to discuss updates on clinical trials for ALS, medical equipment and community resources. A staff member from MDA is present at this support group for referrals and information.
The MDA of OK has equipment to loan to patients as well as educational information. They also sponsor a quarterly support group for myasthenia gravis which meets in the Cancer center Conference Room at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical center.
