Dr. Yi Huang graduated from Tong-Ji Medical University in P.R. China and earned his M.D. degree in 1990. Subsequently, he went on further training in the post-graduate school and received his doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in surgery in 1995. During this period, Dr. Huang also completed his residency in general surgery, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery. He, then, worked as attending cardiovascular surgeon and faculty member at the First Teaching Hospital (Xiehe Hospital) of Tong-Ji Medical University in Central China. Later, he was appointed as a lecturer at the same university.

Dr. Huang joined Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as a research fellow in April 1999. He, then, became a fellow surgeon and received training in various aspects of organ procurement and transplant surgery. He has been a staff surgeon in our organ procurement team and abdominal organ transplant division since July 2005. He performs multi-organ retrieval from deceased donors which covers heart, lung, liver, pancreas and kidney. He also serves as assistant surgeon in all organ implantation surgery (heart, lung, liver, pancreas and kidney), hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Dr. Huang is a member of International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He has published more than 30 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters, both in Chinese and English, related to organ transplantation and cardiovascular surgery.
