INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation

Peer Mentor Program

Life changing injuries such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, or stroke can be very difficult to accept, adapt, or understand. These injuries can alter one’s roles in life and responsibilities.  Sometimes individuals and their families feel alone in what they are feeling or experiencing. Peer and family support are crucial for successful acceptance and transition in returning to life.

The Peer Mentor Program at INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation brings together former patients or survivors with current patients who are new to their situation. This unique pairing creates opportunities for insight and understanding for new experiences as they deal with “a new normal” and figure out how to move forward through their rehab process, and integrate back home and into their community.
