Programs & Classes

INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center offers a variety of programs and events ranging from discussions by INTEGRIS Health professionals to defensive driving classes conducted by AARP. We hold seminars on topics of special interest to seniors: nutrition, fitness, legal issues, health concerns and more. Other options include classes in computer and use of software, Spanish language instruction, an Alzheimer’s caregiver support group, senior exercise classes and a library for both reading enjoyment and resource information.

Healthy Heart Walkers' Club

The Healthy Heart Walkers’ Club is designed to provide our community with a structured walking and health education program. The large hallway access areas, located at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center and INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center and an outdoor walking track at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital, provide a safe, convenient and comfortable walking environment. Health care professionals are nearby should you ever need their assistance.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at:
INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center
Third Age Life Center
4200 S. Douglas Ave., Ste. B10 (Medical Office Building Basement)

AARP Driving Class

This one-day class will teach you many ways in which you can lower your risks every time you get behind the wheel. Completion of the course may entitle you to savings on your car insurance.

For reservations, contact the INTEGRIS HealthLine 405-951-2277. Please bring a check or money order payable to AARP. Cost is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-AARP members

Classes are held the first Thursday of the month at INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center (north office) and the second Friday of the month at INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center (south office).

Spanish Class

Are you interested in keeping your mind active and challenged? One of the best methods to do that is to learn a foreign language.

INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center offers beginning and intermediate level Conversational Spanish classes. The classes are free but students are responsible for purchasing their own textbook.

A new beginning level class will start September and January. Enrollment information is listed in the Lifetime of Harmony newsletter.

Hearing Helpers

In September 1998, INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center joined forces with Faye Donalson, a teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing. The Faye Donalson Hearing Helpers Demonstration Room became a reality.

Hearing Helpers is a demonstration room where people can go to learn about devices made to help compensate for a hearing loss. The services are available to anyone with hearing loss, parents of children with hearing loss, relatives or friends seeking information about helpful devices or gift ideas. Students and others interested in hearing loss and assistive devices are welcome. The Hearing Helpers Demonstration Room is staffed with trained volunteers.

The room is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and is located in the INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, 5100 N. Brookline, Ste. 100, Oklahoma City. Additional information is available by calling 405-717-9820.

Rapid Readers Book Discussion Groups

In response to the suggestion of a long-time Third Age Life Center volunteer, the Rapid Readers Book Discussion group was established in the summer of 2001.

The Rapid Readers read one book monthly, selected by the attendees, then meet and discuss the book. The group discusses an array of topics, such as biographies, mysteries, history, romance, fiction, and humor. Rapid Readers make every attempt to read and/or review books that are available in the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Library System.

The readers meet the third Friday of each month at:
INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center
5100 N. Brookline Ave., Ste. 100
11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
