Center of Excellence

INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute

Dr. Nazih Zuhdi's vision was to create the first comprehensive organ transplant center in the US, with one cohesive unit for all solid organ transplants. One year after its founding, the institute became Oklahoma's first, and one of only a handful of transplant hospitals in the US, to perform a human heart transplant.

The INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City has assembled a team of some of the best organ transplant surgeons in the region, including specialists in heart transplant, kidney transplant, lung transplant, liver transplant, pancreas transplant and advanced endoscopy and pancreaticobiliary surgery. The institute also benefits from a dedicated organ transplant intensive care unit with highly skilled, full-time critical care specialists and nurses.

In addition to transplant surgery, the INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute also assists patients through our comprehensive advanced disease management. The program specializes in the treatment of conditions for liver, kidney, pancreas, heart and lung problems.

We now offer online organ transplant referral forms.

The Transplant Institute continues to lead the way in organ transplantation in the nation. Our heart transplant team garners respect across the US, with revolutionary procedures including America’s first implantation of the Levacor Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), the implantation of the first total artificial heart in Oklahoma, and the first implantation of the HeartMate III in the nation.

Donating Organs in Oklahoma

Organ transplant teams from the INTEGRIS Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute in Oklahoma City typically retrieve their own donated hearts, lungs, kidneys, and livers. Our transplant teams have flown to more than 20 states to retrieve donated organs for transplant.
