Self-Management Toolbox

Most of the time we spend dealing with our health is not in the health care provider’s office. How we live our everyday lives affects our health and our quality of life. By choosing to be active self-managers of our health we can work on maintaining or improving our overall quality of health or to regain aspects of our quality of life.

As active self-managers, we must be willing to take on three self-management tasks:

  1. Take care of our health;
  2. Carry out our normal activities of daily living; and
  3. Manage any emotional ups and downs that are a natural part of life.

The information below is designed to provide information on some of the self-management tools needed to take on these tasks, and to help us to become more active self-managers.
