Photo of Dr. PerdueMore than one out of three patients with cancer experience significant depression and/or anxiety at some point during their illness. Counseling and support groups are helpful, but symptoms may require medical intervention. Effectively treating depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions can help make cancer treatment more tolerable and is associated with better function and overall outcomes.

INTEGRIS Health is pleased to welcome Jedidiah Perdue, M.D., M.P.H., medical director of Arcadia Trails INTEGRIS Health Center for Addiction Recovery to the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute campus. Perdue is now providing psychiatric oncology clinical services at INTEGRIS Cancer Institute one day a week each Tuesday morning.

He is board-certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine and specializes in treating psychiatric illness co-occurring with complex medical problems, addictive illnesses and psychiatric illness that co-occurs with addiction. Born in Ardmore, Perdue graduated from OU College of Medicine in 2004, then completed his residency training in psychiatry at Duke University, where he also served as chief resident. Since returning to Oklahoma City in 2008, he has been active in clinical practice and has served in leadership roles for health systems and medical societies, as well as an instructor of medical students and residents.

"When I treat patients, I work to understand their values and goals and find treatments that are in line with those goals,” says Perdue. “Getting to be part of that journey is deeply rewarding, and I especially appreciate the opportunity to instill hope and provide encouragement."
