Healthy Fall Events in Oklahoma City

Brrr! Today’s chilly temperature has us dreaming of fireplaces, turning leaves and all the fun local events happening this fall. Enrich your season with some of these healthy events in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas.

Plaza District Festival

September 29

Visit the Plaza District for live music, art, food and vendors to celebrate the unique plaza district. This event features a kid’s area equipped with hula hoops, chalk, bubbles and crafts.

Oklahoma Regatta Festival

September 28 – 30

The Oklahoma Regatta Festival is a three-day festival featuring rowing, kayaking, dragon boating, whitewater rafting and all RIVERSPORT Adventures. Take the family out to watch the races and enjoy the activities.

Grape Stomp Festival

September 30

Canadian River Vineyards and Winery hosts an annual wine festival every year in the fall. What makes this festival unique? The grape stomping. Burn some calories while stomping grapes, and participate in other activities such as shopping, live music and children’s events including horseback rides and a petting zoo.


October 5 – 22

Pumpkinville is a popular fall family event located in the Children’s Garden at the Myriad Botanical Gardens. This year’s theme is a New England pumpkin town, featuring thousands of pumpkins, gourds, fall foliage and activities for kids.

Czech Fest

October 6

Starting with a large parade on Main Street in Yukon, Czech Fest is full of family activities such as polka music, dancing, shopping booths and more. It’s okay to try one of their famous Kolache pastries before the day is over — you’ll earn it with all those calories you burned dancing.

Open Streets OKC

October 7

Open Streets OKC is a day of activities focused on health in our local communities. Streets are shut down in specific areas for people to walk, bike or skateboard to local businesses. This event also features local food and activities from health professionals to encourage the creation of healthier communities in Oklahoma.

Greek Fest OKC

October 12 – 14

St. George Greek Orthodox Church invites you to enjoy a cultural experience for the entire family with live music, dancing, gourmet food, homemade pastries, a Greek market and a variety of shopping boutiques.

Furry Friend Checkup with INTEGRIS at the Oklahoma City Zoo

October 13

Teach your children about the importance of being healthy AND have a great family outing at the zoo. Kids can bring their teddy bear, doll or other favorite friend for a special check-up as they get hands-on experience checking their furry friend’s health. INTEGRIS physicians look forward to meeting you and your family and answering general medical questions as they provide a mini checkup on your favorite stuffed friend, which may include some special bandages. INTEGRIS physicians who will be there: Christopher Barañano, M.D., otolaryngology; David Rhodes, M.D., orthopedic surgery; Steven Nye, M.D., pediatric hospitalist and INTEGRIS Children’s Baptist Medical Center clinical staff. The event is free with light refreshments, advance registration is required.

Fall Succulents

October 16

Get your hands dirty, choose succulents and make the perfect planter with INTEGRIS at the Reclaimed Warehouse in Moore. It may be just what you need to relax your mind and erase the stress of the day. Shani Ortiz Harvey, M.D., a general surgeon from INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center, will create a succulent planter with attendees as gardening is a favorite pastime of hers. The event is free with light refreshments, advance registration is required.

Chickasaw Cultural Center Fall Festival

October 20

The Fall Festival is a large event at the Chickasaw Cultural Center. Festivities include cultural and language demonstrations, traditional games, storytelling, food arbors, a pumpkin patch and stomp dances.

FallFest at Lake Overholser

October 27

FallFest includes face painting, s’mores, pumpkin painting, bobbing for apples, crafts and a treat bag to take home. You can also experience water sports and ziplines with the purchase of a Lake Overholser/FallFest day pass.

Chickasaw Cultural Center Thanksgiving Celebration

November 24 – 25

Enjoy a day of family-friendly festivities at the Cultural Center’s Thanksgiving Celebration. More information will be provided nearing the event.

Take your family to a local park this fall to get some exercise and participate in one of the many events our city offers.

"Getting people outside and active while enjoying our local parks is definitely a goal of ours," says Becca Leon, a fitness coordinator with the City of Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department. "We strive to improve the health of our community members by providing them with ample opportunity to be active, both inside and outside, as well as decrease stress through physical and leisure activities."

Art Walks

With the Paseo Gallery Walk the first Friday of every month and the Norman Arts Walk the second Friday of each month, your weekends this fall can be full of art, culture and fitness. Walk to participating businesses and galleries and explore hundreds of artists’ exhibits and displays.

Paseo – Held on the first Friday of every month at the Paseo Arts District.

Norman – Second Friday Norman Art Walk is held monthly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Walker Arts District of Downtown Norman.
