The Joint Commission Surveys Possibly Rerouted Due to Previous Hurricane Activity

Officials with The Joint Commission announced last Fall that surveys from storm-hit areas last summer (e.g., Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands) are suspended.

That means TJC surveyors could be rerouted to other hospitals in the meantime. CMS is reportedly pushing TJC to mix up its schedule of hospital visits to ensure surveys are unannounced. Hence a potential for surveyors to arrive as much four to six months earlier is expected.

This illustration may provide an idea of how this could possibly affect INTEGRIS hospitals.
