The path back to feeling normal.

Understanding Physical Therapy

After an illness, injury or surgery, you may have problems with pain, limited movement or other problems. A physical therapist (PT) will be your partner in relieving the pain, extending range of motion and getting you back to feeling like your normal self again.

Physical therapy is likely to begin in the hospital if your injury, illness or surgery required you to be there. But it typically doesn’t end there. Whether you struggling with the aftermath from a stroke or spinal cord injury, or you just need help with pain management or overuse conditions, INTEGRIS physical therapists have an extensive skill set to help you gain strength, improve coordination and balance, learn effective ways to relieve pain, be safe and regain your independence.

Additionally, INTEGRIS physical therapists can provide treatment and education regarding any of the following:

  • Mobility (movement)
  • Balance and gait retraining
  • Heat and cold therapy and massage
  • Activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Burn care
  • Casting and splinting
  • Wheelchair, walkers, canes, and crutches
  • Muscle retraining
  • Pain management
  • Cardiovascular strengthening
  • Use of orthotics (braces, splints) and prosthetics (artificial limbs)
  • Exercise programs
